RMR

What is it?

Resting Metabolic Rate is the exact number of calories your body burns whilst at rest. This value is unique to every individual and can change depending on factors such as age, weight and fitness level.

 

How is it beneficial?

Knowing your RMR allows you to precisely account for your daily energy expenditure once you take into consideration your activity levels. This then gives you an accurate baseline measurement so you can achieve your goals, whether they’re weight loss, maintenance or gain.

 

Understanding your RMR also allows you to plan for competition and event fuelling, where energy intake is essential for performance.

 

How does it work?

We use a method called indirect calorimetry. During this test you will sit in a relaxed, comfortable position whilst wearing a nose clip and breathing into a mouthpiece which analyses your expired air. This test takes between 10-20 minutes and is considered the gold standard for measuring Resting Metabolic Rate.
